Adidas “All In” Campaign
Adidas’ newest advertising campaign has recently caught our attention. Featuring a mix of pro-athletes (David Beckham & Dwight Howard) as well as popular musicians (B.o.B. and Katy Perry), it effortlessly captures the versatility of Adidas as a global brand. The two-minute video debuts Adidas’ new “all in” mantra and focuses on their three sub-brands: adidas Sport Performance, adidas Originals and adidas Sport Style.
Below are some behind the scenes photos from the video shoot with Katy Perry and “Jeremy Scott for Adidas originals” designer, Jeremy Scott.

If we were keeping score, we would say this would make it Adidas: 1, Nike: 0. Your move, Nike.

Ivy walks Chloé comme Parris

My pretty friend Ivy is here from Nova Scotia, modeling for LG Fashion Week. Ivy lived with me during the summer of 2009, while pursuing modeling and worked in Asia this past summer! I’m so proud of her, even though she’s only 17, she’s following her dreams! Yesterday Ivy walked for Chloé comme Parris, whose Spring 2011 line mixes original organic styles with comfort.

i love plaid, i love Philip Sparks
The way to my heart is through plaid. Honestly, if you wear a plaid shirt that’s +100 points in my books, and for some reason you just seem that much more attractive. I think it’s a disease. I am a strong believer that you can never have too much plaid, especially if you’re a boy.
This week Philip Sparks has finally introduced his much anticipated women’s collection for Spring 2011, and I must say it’s pretty lovely. The looks are tailored, with a menswear inspiration, but still very feminine. And YES there is plaid for both men and women in this collection!

So boys and girls, get ready for the collection, and remember as long as you’re wearing plaid (especially Sparks’ plaid) you’re ok in my books.

Um What? The Big Pony Collection
As a regular subway goer, having to travel North for work, I have become very familiar with not only TTC routes, but also the fashionable (or not so fashionable) riders and the subway advertisements. Commuting on the subway for at least 30 minutes a day, traveling through 9 stations allows you to really take note of every detail of every subway ad. It probably also doesn’t help that I work in advertising.
Which brings me to my point: Ralph Lauren The Big Pony Collection

Ralph Lauren’s posters for the new “team” of men’s fragrances is displayed throughout Dundas station. So can you spot what doesn’t belong?
Yes, the boys are cute, and sure their polos are decent looking (although I prefer plaid), but what’s the deal with the cast? Is the cast meant to display how intense the game of polo can be? Does it represent that not only are polo players good-looking, but also tough, and therefore more manly? Is this supposed to make the brand more relatable to consumers, because who really plays polo in Toronto anyway? Or maybe Ralph Lauren is just trying to display the multi-function of the belt.
Well who knows. All I can say is that if you want to be perceived as a tough, attractive, “big pony” polo player, than maybe you should wear the new fragrance. If not, stick to Axe.

S(t)AM I AM
I know I know, another model/celebrity fashion collaboration. This is one is different though I promise, because Canadian beauty Jessica Stam co-designs with Rachel Roy. Stam has designed 5 unique pieces for RACHEL Rachel Roy ($49-$199), and each of them, as persisted by Roy, are looks that Jessica can see her friends wearing. This Great White North Supermodel, and one of my faves along side Daria, describes the looks as nautical meets military. This seems to be the trend in the coming season, but if you only want to invest in a few essential pieces, go for these designs. Sometimes less IS more!

The collection is available at Macy’s at the end of this month (now).

Tommy in Toronto
This past week Tommy Hilfiger introduced the Tommy Holiday 2010 line here in our lovely city of Toronto. Apparently Toronto’s “fresh, young, cool, twenty somethings” are hip enough to bring an exclusive Tommy launch to Queen West West’s Gladstone Hotel. This perfectly suited hipster/preppy collection will be exclusive to Canada beginning in October. I can’t wait! I guess good, old, red-white-and-blue Mr. Hilfiger has had a change of heart and realized Toronto’s hipster kids are where it’s at.

erin wasson – rvca spring 2010

A “Classic Beauty” hailing from the great state of Texas, Erin Wasson embodies the modern female ideal. Ever-evolving, ever graceful, Wasson has enjoyed a career of dreams. Having walked the international runways for everyone from Chloe to Lanvin, Balenciaga to Gucci, graced the covers of countless magazines such as French Vogue, Elle and Numero and worked with the world’s most renowned photographers: Mario Testino, Elle Von Unwerth and Patrick Demarchelier, Wasson has an endearing, all American charm that’s difficult to ignore.
- RVCA
Erin Wasson has parlayed her love of fashion into a collaboration with the street wear brand, RVCA in what will be her second collection this spring. The pieces range from $63 for a cotton camisole, to $300 for a pair of distressed denim shorts (I can just hear my dad right now “$300 for a pair of ripped up shorts!? How about I rip you a pair of shorts and you pay me $300 instead!?”). Pricing aside, the styles are very “California cool”, but not at all office appropriate. However, if you plan on spending the summer wandering the city and hitting up the island, Erin Wasson x RVCA is for you.

Gucci x Mark Ronson
Frida Giannini teams up with musician and producer Mark Ronson this season to produce a new collection of trainers/sneakers! The Gucci x Mark Ronson line will consist of 17 exclusive styles, 15 for MEN and 2 for women, lucky boys.

When Ronson was first invited to the Gucci show last January, he was immediately drawn to the designs. The love between the two artists seems to be mutual, Giannini said the two were able to connect when working on the line. If Ronson’s influence on the designs are anything like his music, I’m sure many more than just the House of Gucci will be pleased! Get ready to see some pretty fun and innovative looks for these kicks, with designs including leather, gray herringbone and even polka dots!
Just when I thought my Creative Recreation’s were the real deal, now I have to re-assess this whole high-top situation!
