NOTED BY GFB: recently
As of late on NOTED BY GFB we’ve posted important fashion news – Anna Wintour’s opinion on gay marriage. I think we should consider how critical industry influencer’s opinions are, in fashion especially, but also in world issues that effect so many people.

In other, not so important news, here is a mini-mac created from our favourite dessert – the french macaron.
Enjoy!

Links We Like: The Cosby Sweater Project
In case you missed it, we’ve recently gotten into Tumblr. And what we appreciate thus far is the emphasis it places on images. After all, a picture speaks a thousand words. And while we don’t always agree with Lady Gaga’s crazy looks, we can agree with her stylist when he predicts that Tumblr is the next big thing.
One of the more creative Tumblrs out there is the Cosby Sweater Project. Perfectly illustrated by Kelly Tucker, the website showcases the best oversized, over-patterned sweaters from the Cosby Show through cleverly drawn illustrations and stills from the show. Below are a few of our faves:

Jello, anyone?

this week on tumblr
Hopefully by now you have checked out our tumblr blog NOTED BY GFB. NOTED is a simpler way for us to share things with you, and it’s actually really fun to use! We’ll still be blogging and writing here of course, but thought we’d try something new.
Mostly recently tumbl-ed: Jessica Hart for Shopbop swimwear. What a perfect match it is, Hart being an Australian surfer babe after all.

best celeb friends forever
Did you know they besties? Well they are. They’ve wined, dined, concert-ed and partied together.

Remember last week when I wrote about Jay-Z’s new website (Life & Times)? Well little Gleek-wannabe Wynnie was just as impressed as we were, and so she took it upon herself to ask Mr. Carter for an interview. Jay showed her his and Gwyneth showed him hers.

HOVA gets to the WWW

Yesterday Jay-Z launched a personal website, it’s about time right? lifeandtimes.com includes features on art & design, culture, music, fashion, etc. along with a page specifically from Jay (titled ‘Jay’s'). Most posts are written by authors other than Jay-Z himself, with Jay’s section currently only displaying one post. Under ‘About’ holds one quote by rapper/businessman, “I want to make extraordinary, ordinary.”
We always knew he had a passion for art, culture, and the related, so we’re happy he’s finally taken it to the online world, where all ordinary can bathe in his extraordinary world. Don’t worry Jay, we’ve got your back.

blogroll +2
I’ve added a lil’ something something new to the blogroll!
WITH A PICTURE: It just so happens that Kayla likes to take pictures sometimes. With the New Year having just commenced, her resolution is to take a picture everyday, and learn how to use her digital SLR camera. So support the M&K cause and check it out. Maybe you’ll end up framing one some day….
90 percent [non] sense: Nicky is one of my oldest friends. Having gone to elementary & middle school together, we were inseparable, so it’s no wonder people say we have the same mannerisms. 90 percent is a little compilations of everything she loves, which in turn is mostly everything I love too. Enjoy!

Bicyclette Boutique
While finishing up the final months of our university career we happened to meet the lovely Paige Boersma, a fellow Ryerson student completing a Fashion Communications degree. At the time Paige was working on her thesis project and had big dreams of opening a personal online boutique. Initially you might think these dreams are just that, especially with all the fashion savvy girls in Toronto. But after following the Bicyclette blog on the daily, it was easy to see that Paige’s passion and persistence would allow her success!

Why Bicyclette?
“the name bicyclette has connotations of urban city life with a whimsical, romantic twist. I like the fact that it’s more abstract, and brings to mind a lifestyle and feeling…” This aligns perfectly with the shop’s concept: street style meets fairytale.
What do we love about Paige?
We all have too much in common (studying at Ryerson, living in Whistler, FASHION love, biking across the city, being blonde-ha!). We love Paige’s ability to seek out vintage pieces and marry them perfectly with modern styles. The best part of all…Paige’s approach of allowing the public (me, you, all of us) to interact, be opinionated and CONNECT with her every step of the way! Paige utilized Twitter (@ShopBicyclette) , Facebook and Bicyclette Blog to develop her brand.
What is the result?
Bicyclette Boutique launches TODAY!

You all must visit Paige’s freshly launched online shop. Bicyclette offers a lovely collection of unique pieces, including some of our fave brands (Mink Pink, Dolce Vita, Wildfox). The online space is decorated gorgeously with exclusive Bicyclette styled photos. Read more about the studio, photo shoot and behind-the-scenes on the Bicyclette blog!

We can’t wait to shop, definitely have my eye on more than a few pieces!
If you like what you’ve just seen please come back soon for a little somethin’ somethin’
(think sneak peak & face-time with Paige)!
