Adidas “All In” Campaign

Posted in Campaign, Celebrities, Designers, Marketing by goldfacedbetty on April 9, 2011

Adidas’ newest advertising campaign has recently caught our attention. Featuring a mix of pro-athletes (David Beckham & Dwight Howard) as well as popular musicians (B.o.B. and Katy Perry), it effortlessly captures the versatility of Adidas as a global brand. The two-minute video debuts Adidas’ new “all in” mantra and focuses on their three sub-brands: adidas Sport Performance, adidas Originals and adidas Sport Style.

Below are some behind the scenes photos from the video shoot with Katy Perry and “Jeremy Scott for Adidas originals” designer, Jeremy Scott.

If we were keeping score, we would say this would make it Adidas: 1, Nike: 0. Your move, Nike.

déjà vu: World Mastercard

Posted in Campaign, Marketing by goldfacedbetty on March 23, 2011

I just saw this commercial on tv for the World Mastercard, and at first I was convinced it was advertising EF International Language (see previous post).  Am I having a déjà vu?

nous ne parlons pas l’américano

These EF International Language Centers commercials are some of the best I’ve seen in a while.  I mean sure the SuperBowl commercials are the most extravagant, anticipated and expensive commercials on the tube, but these actually influence me to want to learn a new language.  But who’s to say the lovely Go-Daddy girls don’t encourage football watchers to go out there and claim a domain name.

So, voulez vous visiter Paris avec moi? Or if you would prefer Barcelona, London, or Beijing click here.

Mobile Mania 2010

Posted in Marketing, Technology by goldfacedbetty on January 10, 2011

After watching this I decided to download the WordPress iPhone app (still learning…can I center this post?). I really think the future of mobile is unbelievable, one of the most modern ways of connecting with consumers especially those of Gen Y. But of course we at GFB are a bit of technology/internet nerds. Bring on the apps, txts, tweets and everything mobile.

Just remember kids, let’s keep this so called ‘sexting epidemic’ to a minimum. Think before you text, email or tweet, nobody wants to know what you do in your personal mobile life.

T-Mobile: Life’s for Sharing

Here’s a T-Mobile ad to get you through this hump day.

This reminds me of the beginning and end of Love Actually, so here is your reminder to watch it over the holidays!

Decoded by Jay-Z

Posted in Campaign, Marketing, Music by goldfacedbetty on December 8, 2010

Let’s be honest, it was only a matter of time before Jay-Z/Hova/Shawn Carter/Jigga wrote an autobiography. And, in true hip hop form, to promote Decoded, Jay planned the Rosé, Rolex and Rolls Royce of viral marketing campaigns. Jay-Z, Droga5, and Bing turned what could have been a typical campaign into an interactive art project and scavenger hunt by reproducing pages of the book in areas referred to in the book. For example, if Times Square was mentioned, the page in question would be plastered on billboards in the Square. Creative, no? Below are some shots from the campaign, you can find the rest of them here. Want your own copy of “Decoded”? It’s available here.

Coke vs. Pepsi, K’naan vs. Akon

Posted in Entertainment, Marketing, Music Monday by goldfacedbetty on June 14, 2010

World Cup fever has taken over in the past week, and it hasn’t only stirred up rivalry between each team’s country, but it’s also created a little rivalry in the marketing and music industry.  With ad spots being key for global brand awareness during the next couple of weeks, Coca-Cola and Pepsi are back at their old game.  With Coke being an official FIFA 2010 partner, they started off with a strong lead in the branding competition, just as Germany did yesterday against Australia.

So how do the two soft drink brands measure up?  Well Coke’s “Goal Celebration” took the nostalgic route, bringing back a little old school clip to warm viewers’ hearts.  The commercial also features K’naan’s infamous Wavin’ Flag which has also been featured as the Young Artists for Haiti song.  Pepsi’s “Oh Africa” pulled the celebrity card, not only featuring a song by Akon, but also featuring the rapper in the video.

So who do you think won this year’s Pepsi Challenge?  In my opinion, featuring Akon could be a strong move, if only everyone could relate to this convict turned rapper.  But hey, did you know he owns a diamond mine in South Africa?   So that’s how it all comes together…

Today’s Beauty Forecast

Posted in Beauty, Marketing by goldfacedbetty on April 20, 2010

How do you get more women interested in the weather, and visiting weather.com?  Create a daily Beauty Forecast!  That’s right, not only can you check the weather forecast by hour, day, and long-term, but now The Weather Channel will provide you with daily Frizz and Dry Skin Levels.  Today there will be a high of 18 degrees, with light frizz levels and only a chance of dry skin.  To prepare for the day you might need some lipbalm, sunscreen, a light jacket and a (reusable) water bottle!

Weather and beauty advice, who knew!  Marketing you are an interesting industry, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to keep up, and obviously John Frieda and Jergens are up for new and innovative ideas.

good/badvertising

Remember this Evian commercial with the dancing roller babies?  Well now we can all go back to our toddler-hood and ‘live young’.  The commercial was definitely a HIT, but in my opinion I’m going say these t-shirts are a MISS.  I’m just not sure I’m to ready for the responsibility of a baby, I’m no Maci from Teen Mom.

Lagerfeld x Coca-Cola Light

Posted in Designers, Marketing by goldfacedbetty on April 6, 2010

I’m not one to drink “diet”, “light”, or “zero” drinks, but this just might start my love affair with aspartame…

Karl Lagerfeld’s newest collaboration?  Coca-Cola Light for France.  The Chanel designer has created a unique aluminum bottle, displaying his own silhouette and a hot pink cap.  Lagerfeld also photographed none other than Canadian model, Coco Rocha for the campaign that will launch April 28 in France.  Somebody from France please FedEx us a case, because if Coco is drinking it, we should too!

Coke: 1, Pepsi: 0.  Looks like Coca-Cola wins this round of the Pepsi-Coke challenge!
