Often I say I feel like my outfit makes me feel like a boy. This is a prime example. Typically these boyish feelings are encouraged by very simple outfits, and this is too simple, it felt weird taking only two minutes to get dressed in the morning.

Spring is upon us, with 16+ daily highs, I certainly have no problem with trading in my wool coats for leather and canvas jackets. My goal this spring/summer season is to incorporate more brights into my closet, and ask myself ”do your 18 other grey shirts need another sibling?” This isn’t 19 Kids and Counting.

Cottage Chic Chap
Dear boys…men (whatever), you have the heart of a lumberjack (outdoorsman), but the big city area code. Well the cottage chic look, as requested, is the perfect style to get you through the winter.

For tops focus on thick knits. For me, a cowichan is almost the definition of the cottage sweater. Plaid is obviously a given, flannel for a cozier feel, or cotton for a sleeker look. Since demin was and is so popular this year I figure why not throw this into the cottage chic look too!?

Although you might imagine a cottage pant as a beat up cargo, I’m gonna go ahead and say that a slim-fit khaki or slightly worn out cord is much more appropriate for you city slickers trying to give off the ruffing-it style. Go for a leather boot that resembles more of a desert boot, or an authentic hiking boot. Take a chance with the shoes, I mean if Sorels came back in style, pretty much anything is worth a try.

Having lived in Whistler, I can’t say anything about outerwear accessories, without saying purchase a slouchy toque. For a warmer more up-North style, go for the fur-lined hat, ear-flaps and all. Scarves are sometimes a touchy subject with boys. Let’s just say it looks way better than a neck warmer or balaclava AND it’s +5 points in any girl’s book. Of course the typical go-to for a cottage style is a parka, but if you want to try out this season’s must have jacket, go for a leather/shearling.

Cable Knit Cuddle.
Baby, it’s cold outside. It’s time to cuddle up with your cable-knit clad hunk and sip a mug of chocolate-chai tea.

In case you didn’t know this is actually all for the boys, these are the perfect sweaters to keep you warm and stylin’ throughout the chilly months.
Sweater options: Ralph Lauren Zip Up Cowichan, Calvin Klein Chunky Knit, D&G Button Up Henley, Prada Crewneck.
Of course for those of us who don’t have the budget of a Details editorial, there’s the Gap.

extra, extra tweet all about it!
I guess the biggest lesson discovered this week in the retail world would be to think twice before re-branding and maybe conduct some online marketing research, so when you do change your logo to some horrendous thing with a blue square under the top right of your company name, you don’t regret it….hmmm 4 days later?

So that was the story of the Gap and it’s new, and now back-to-old logo. Shedding some light on this issue is none other than Canadian yoga retailer, Lululemon. Who knew the retailer was so funny, maybe they just attended one of those laughing yoga classes.

And don’t get me wrong I love Lulu, and have quite the collection of luon pants. Thanks to Allessia, also a Lulu Educator for making me aware of this.

spring uniform
Last Monday it was 15 degrees in Toronto, and this illusion of summer was amazingggg! Here is my spring uniform, decided to test out these thigh-high socks I’ve had since two years ago.

bringing it back old school…
has anyone else noticed Gap’s new holiday commercial? i have, and i can’t help to think how glee-inspired it is. although it still doesn’t really compare to the original Gap commercials, circa early 2000s, i have to say solid effort! i guess since the recession has officially been declared complete, companies are getting back into the retailing game. it’s no surprise that gap is leading this venture and getting the ball rolling just in time for the holiday shopping season.
