The Little Things: Leopard Glasses Case

leave a comment »

Sometimes it’s the little things that brighten up your day. In this case, a $5 Aldo Shoes Leopard Glasses Case is something that while small and fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of my wardrobe, has brought ease to my life. Not to mention it’s amazing leopard print, this case has allowed me to take my Michael Kors Sloan Sunglasses with me, without having to carry around the immense hard case provided (which literally takes up half or my purse).

Often I say I feel like my outfit makes me feel like a boy. This is a prime example. Typically these boyish feelings are encouraged by very simple outfits, and this is too simple, it felt weird taking only two minutes to get dressed in the morning.

Sunglasses – Michael Kors, Jacket – TNA, Sweater – Gap, Scarf – Aritzia, Jeans – Zara, Booties – H&M, Purse – H&M

Spring is upon us, with 16+ daily highs, I certainly have no problem with trading in my wool coats for leather and canvas jackets. My goal this spring/summer season is to incorporate more brights into my closet, and ask myself  ”do your 18 other grey shirts need another sibling?” This isn’t 19 Kids and Counting.

The hobby of collecting

with 2 comments

Collections are fascinating. To be able to declare such absolute love for an item is admirable; it shows dedication. As a child, I was never a collector. Forget about keeping my Barbie in her box, or the tags on my Beanie Babies. Keeping my belongings in pristine condition was not for me.

I figured I would never have a collection. That is, until one day when my mom asked me what I’d like for Christmas. Would I like another bottle of perfume? This seemed to have become a tradition, a bottle of perfume for Christmas. Then it hit me, I collect perfume!

There is something enchanting about giving or receiving a bottle of perfume. It’s personal, it smells nice, and it comes in a perfectly designed bottle. Plus, it’s basically what keeps department stores in business, as it has one of the highest margins.
So, what scent is on my Christmas list this year? I’ve only done visual research thus far, flipping through magazines, looking at billboards, etc., and have yet to get down to the “testing” process. However, here are a few ideas to help you on your perfume hunt!

1) Marc Jacobs: Lola
Smells like: vanilla, warm tonka bean, and creamy musk
Looks like: A beautiful bouquet of abstract flowers
Cost: $45-$85

2) Michael Kors: Very Hollywood
Smells like: Sparkling mandarin, gardenia, and vetiver.
Looks like: A red-carpet-worthy diamon necklace
Cost: $40-$80

3) Missoni: Missoni Parfum
Smells like: Radiant Yellow Accord, Bergamot, Magnolia, Choclate Brown Accord, Amber, Magenta, among others.
Looks like: A Morracan beach blanket
Cost: $300 (Yikes, considering how thoughtless the bottle is).

So go ahead, induldge. Signature scents were for our grandmothers! With so many options it’s okay to “cheat” on your scent to see what else is out there. Who knows, you may end up with a collection too!
