desperate service?

with one comment

“Sales associates are peppering shoppers with questions about their holiday plans, taking their pictures, walking step-for-step with them through a store and, on a recent afternoon in Juicy Couture’s store in the West Village, even getting down on hands and knees to embrace a customer’s chihuahua.” – On the new in-store treatment from WWD.
The funny thing about this quote is that this is what we do at Aritzia every day, recession or not.

labelscar – the retail history blog

with one comment

I found this website a year or so ago. It’s amazing. These two guys have visited hundreds of malls in North America and documented their history and current state for all to see! It’s amazing the amount of time and effort put into researching for. Not to mention the money spent traveling…
Here’s a list of all the malls I have visited, that they have visited too…
-The Toronto Eaton Centre
-Square One Shopping Centre – Mississauga, Ontario
-Garden City Shopping Centre – Winnipeg, Manitoba
-Crossroads – San Antonio, Texas
-Mall of America – Minneapolis, Minnesota

Tis the Season! (for conscious spending)

with 2 comments

In case the calendar did not inform you, the festive window displays ย must have. Indeed the holiday season has arrived once again. This year, however, it may feel a little different at the local mall. Consumer confidence is at an all-time low, and conspicuous consumption has become a shopping faux pas.
What does this mean for retailers? Decreased luxury sales, shifts to lower priced stores, excess inventories, store closures, halted expansions.
What does this mean for shoppers? Big sales!! …but not if you shop at Abercrombie and Fitch).

urban finds…!

leave a comment »

I always new that urban outfitters sold some great merchandise, but here we can see that even the celebs adore the brand!

here is the Promenade Suede boot Jessica Biel is wearing.. in a great shade of purple, my new favourite colour! these are only $78!

i absolutely love the whole suede flat boot thing. I have a great grey pair myself i picked up in London at TopShop, but here is a gorgeous pair very similar to mine… kind of a peter pan feel. these are the Charm City boot for only $78 aswell!

and the purse that Lidsay Lohan is so very nicely carrying, the Croco Framed Lady bag, for $58 dollars comes in black and brown

just love it! and can’t get enough!
