NIcki Minaj for Vogue
Nickn Minaj is featured in Vogue’s True Colors, and literally showing some colors, the music icon dons sea green/turquoise skin and her classic pink hair. Though some may be skeptical, I think this photo of Nicki is great, each color complementing the other. Inside the article, Minaj talks more about her day-to-day life and what she’d be doing if she wasn’t in the spotlight.

NOTED BY GFB: recently
As of late on NOTED BY GFB we’ve posted important fashion news – Anna Wintour’s opinion on gay marriage. I think we should consider how critical industry influencer’s opinions are, in fashion especially, but also in world issues that effect so many people.

In other, not so important news, here is a mini-mac created from our favourite dessert – the french macaron.
Enjoy!

Anna vs. Grace
Check it. My favourite glossy mag twosome.

When grace says “go”, Anna says “no.” And that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

t-swizzle in vogue

Okay, I like Taylor Swift (yes I am 23, not 14). It started out as a guilty pleasure, sneaking her albums from my sister’s room to listen to in the car, but now I openly consider myself a fan. I’ll admit her music isn’t ground breaking, but it’s catchy. But you know what, in my opinion there a lot worse people that I could enjoy (um, Ke$ha anyone?). Coming up in May, Taylor is featured in Vogue. In a piece written by Jonathan Van Meter and photos by Annie Leibovitz, Taylor talks about her signature sparkly dresses, being a “cross-over artist”, and her upcoming album. Click here for a preview, the rest will be in the magazine when it hits news stands at the beginning of May.

FOR RENT: André Leon Talley

for the time being Anna Wintour is renting out André Leon Talley…and the first to scoop him up? Tyra Banks and the judging panel of America’s Next Top Model! T-Banks has been wanting André on the show since the early days, but he has only just agreed and has been signed on for at least 3 cycles, where he will bring a little sophistication to the show (so he claims). while Anna Wintour sends wishful words “I think his latest adventure sounds like a lot of fun and I look forward to watching him on the program” i’m pretty sure we all know that somewhere in the Vogue-empire Grace Coddington is being punished for the loss of the editor-at-large…
___
this all being said we will no longer be graced with Miss Jay Alexander’s dry wit, BUT Whitney Port will be a guest judge in the upcoming season. ANTM Cycle 14 begins March 10, cross your fingers that Tyra can make a comeback after recruiting all those short children from last cycle. pretty sure supermodel and <5’6 should never meet again, and if so Tyra will have a lot of smeyes-ing to do to keep the audience intrigued…

resolutions…
while the rest of the world makes the usual new year’s resolution of shedding a couple pounds, the magazine industry has other things in mind. many magazines are working on slimming down the editor-in-chief, while bulking up the issue. i’m not sure whether that means this year’s September issue of Vogue will be even more full of ads, or not. and although i’m sure bulking up the magazine means trying to achieve higher revenues, via advertising space, i’m hoping not for the sake of us readers…
Cosmopolitan’s editor-in-chief Kate White is hoping to bulk up her sometimes x-rated issues, with big name celebrity covers, including Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Megan Fox. either way, we’ll have to wait it out in 2010 to see how each magazine weighs in.

never never land..
this year Vogue is celebrating 15 years of kate moss with 15 cover shots from each year.
obviously kate has had some ups and downs within this industry, but i think it’s safe to say that she will always be known to us as a fashion icon, despite her coke sniffing dubauchery….. most of us have been following this girl in the tabloids to discover some fashion inspiration or to follow her infamous on-again off-again relationship with crack-doing rocker pete doherty. kate was first discovered by storm model management in NY when she was 14, and is still modeling and being the muse for many designers, including her line at topshop. kate moss is now 35, with just over 20 years in the business….
kate and galiano at the beginning of her career… love at first sight
